BACK PAIN

Back pain is the most common reason people seek out chiropractic care. If back pain is left untreated, it can lead to dysfunction in other areas of the body. When pain persists for long enough, our body will attempt to correct things on its own. This may lead to muscular tension in surrounding areas, poor compensation patterns, segmental and/or regional joint dysfunction, and general pain and discomfort. The quicker back pain gets addressed, the quicker pain free living returns.

SYMPTOMS INDICATING BACK INVOLVEMENT

  • Pain while sitting or standing for long periods of time

  • Numbness or tingling in the back, hips, or leg

  • Sciatica issues

  • Inability to perform daily tasks such as putting on shoes without pain

  • Excessive tension built up in the musculature surrounding the back.

HOW CAN CHIROPRACTIC HELP?

Back pain can be caused from a number of different events. Our doctors will perform a targeted exam to determine the root causes of why you are experiencing pain in the first place. We then formulate our treatment based on the underlying cause of the back pain, not just the symptoms you are experiencing.

TREATMENTS FOR BACK PAIN

Common treatments for back pain include chiropractic adjustments, soft tissue therapies, corrective exercise regimens, passive therapies, and more.

SCIATICA

"Sciatica" is when there is pain that shoots down one of the legs along the path of the sciatic nerve. This can be caused from things such as:

1. A "pinched nerve" in the lower back frequently due to a herniated/bulging disc, or decreased joint space.

2. Hypertonicity or excessive "tightness" in our hip and glute muscles putting pressure on the sciatic nerve.

3. Pressure being put on the sciatic nerve from a peripheral location such as the hamstring, knee, or calf muscles.

It is our job to determine the reason why you are experiencing the sciatic pain. Once the reason has been identified, treatment can be tailored to get you moving again.
